Our Team
Maria is also the immediate former Vice President of the East Africa Law Society having served from 2016-2018. At the Law society of Kenya she is also a member of the Staff & Finance Committee, Budget Committee, Devolution Committee, and Member Services Committee. Maria was also the Chair of the LSK Annual Conference Committee for the period 2018-2020. Ms. Mbeneka is the Convener of the ICT/IP Committee;
Maria has served as a member of the Industrial Property Tribunal from 2010-2013. At the ICT/IP Committee she has advised the LSK Council on Public Interest Litigation matters in which the LSK has filed suit; These are the NIIMS Petition Number 56 58,59; Housing Levy Petition Petition 334 of 2018 The Committee has also actively participated in consultative and public participation forums on the Data Protection Bill as well as the Huduma Bill currently before Parliament.
Maria holds a Bachelor of Social Legislation Degree BSL and a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University; She holds a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. A trained Mediator, she also holds a certificate from the Mediators Training Institute MTI and is currently undertaking her Arbitration training with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. She is also a holder of FIDIC training certificate as well as the East Africa Institute. She has written articles, been quoted and featured in the Daily Nation; She has also been featured and in the Nairobi Law Monthly, the East African, The Star among other local and regional publications.
Maria Mbeneka is also a member of the Red Cross Society where she serves as a member of the Grievances Committee; She is a mother and is the immediate former First Lady of Laikipia County, Kenya.
She is also CFLA chair + chairperson, Ghetto Radio. Maria is the Chairperson of Ghetto Radio, a youth empowered urban media House started in 2007 to give voice to the urban youth.

Maria Mbeneka is a Senior Partner of the firm Mbeneka Advocates LLP and has been in private practice for the past sixteen years. She was a council member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) elected and served as the Treasurer & General Member Representative. She was also serving as a council member of the Commonwealth Lawyers Association (CLA) representing East Africa and Seychelles.
